Orphanages in Destitute

Orphanages in Destitute

Over half a century of war has torn Vietnam into a place that needs much assistance in rebuilding.  The touching story below is but one of many “orphanages” in heart-rending conditions all over Vietnam.

A selfless woman started an orphanage 10 years ago with money she earned through prostitution. There, about three hundred children call her “Mother”.  Although she makes every effort to rescue abandoned infants, the level of care provided is still insufficient due to a lack of facilities and staff.  Bedding is extremely scarce and is often reserved as a poor alternative to incubators for infants in critical conditions.  Lack of aid is also seen in children with disabilities who are left alone without any special attention or care. These children are severely underdeveloped in speech and language skills, as well as, motor and social skills.  The environment in which these children are subjected to, often results in one to two deaths per month. While the death toll increases, newborns are continuously being left on the door steps of the orphanage.

This is just one example of the many orphanages in this region; however, each shares a common outcome for their orphans - little nourishment, no education and no future. These children are in desperate need of help, which is why we are building a boarding school to relieve several overcrowded orphanages in desperation.
